[PV-Storage-Charging Case] Integrated PV-Storage-Charging-Discharging Charging Station at the Changzhou Administrative Center

On the morning of April 20, 2022, the integrated PV-storage-charging-discharging charging station at the Changzhou Administrative Center, developed under the lead of StarCharge, was officially put into service, aiming to create a demonstration new energy parking site for the public sector, guide the whole of society toward a favorable atmosphere of energy conservation and low-carbon living, and lead the way as a pioneer on the path to the 'dual carbon' goals.

An integrated PV-storage-charging-discharging charging station — in essence, 'PV-to-charging' — integrates multiple technologies such as photovoltaic power generation and smart charging piles, combining PV power with charging piles through an energy storage system. This not only relieves pressure on the power grid; the resulting PV-charging system also generates electricity without environmental or noise pollution, realizing the use of clean energy. It thereby supports the charging piles with solar power, shaves peaks and fills valleys, smooths charging load fluctuations, reduces grid capacity pressure, and improves the reliability of power supply, enabling 'low-carbon' or even 'zero-carbon' operation of the charging station.

This station renovation covers an area of 1,300 square meters, with 1227kW of charging piles built, including Beidou Gen 2 360kW split-type DC charging piles, Gemini 180kW dual-gun all-in-one DC charging piles (four sections), 6.6kW bidirectional DC charging piles, and Aurora-series smart AC charging piles, meeting the charging needs of 43 vehicles simultaneously. A 142kW photovoltaic canopy was built, generating 350 kWh of electricity per day and saving 160 tons of carbon emissions per year.

The project adopts an energy management system independently developed by StarCharge, which applies intelligent control strategies to manage energy and carry out orderly dispatching across the energy system composed of the PV system, the charging pile cluster, and the power grid. Notably, this technology is currently at the leading level worldwide.

In recent years, as China's electric vehicle market has grown rapidly, charging demand has also risen fast. Building integrated PV-storage-charging-discharging charging stations is of great significance for emission reduction in transportation and energy and for helping to achieve the 'dual carbon' goals. Under its mission of 'driving the electrification of transportation and leading the digitalization of global energy', this station is yet another fruit of StarCharge's continuous exploration and practice along the path of clean energy and digital energy.

In the future, StarCharge will take this charging station as a nationwide demonstration project, explore more possibilities in the public sector, advance coordinated carbon reduction and efficiency gains, promote a comprehensive green transition of economic and social development, achieve a shift from quantitative to qualitative improvement in ecological and environmental quality, and build more 'low-carbon' and 'zero-carbon' government institutions.

At the same time, it will extend this model to offices and production and business premises of other groups, enterprises and public institutions, and other organizations, promoting integrated PV-storage-charging-discharging charging stations in an all-around, society-wide, cross-sector manner, and joining forces to help achieve the 'dual carbon' goals and move toward a greener future.
