A new year brings a new look, with everything off to a flourishing start. On the occasion of the New Year's Day holiday, the Yancheng SDIC Qingneng Wanbang Yancheng Economic Development Zone150,000 kW/300,000 kWh new-type energy storage station projectheld its groundbreaking ceremony. Gu Mingdong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Director of the Administrative Committee of the Yancheng Economic Development Zone, attended the event and declared construction underway. Zhang Guosheng, Party Committee Secretary and Chairman of Yancheng SDIC Group, and Jiang Jianqing, Party Committee Secretary and Senior Vice President of Wanbang Energy Investment Group Co., Ltd., delivered speeches, and Wang Qingliang, Deputy Party Committee Secretary and General Manager of Yancheng SDIC Group, presided over the ceremony.
Gu Mingdong congratulated the start of construction. He pointed out that in recent years, the Economic Development Zone has continuously deepened its strategic cooperation with SDIC Group, and in 2024 two SDIC-affiliated enterprises in the zone achievedinvoiced sales of RMB 3.25 billion, up 37.4%.At present, the Economic Development Zone is seizing the major opportunity of the province's new-type power system construction pilot, going all out to build a zero-carbon industrial park featuring 'green energy manufacturing, green electricity application and green services'. The new-type energy storage station project is based on the shared strategic goals of the Economic Development Zone, SDIC Group and Wanbang Digital Energy Co., Ltd. (StarCharge), promoting mutual benefit and win-win results and bringing the project to fruition. He stated that the Economic Development Zone wouldpursue construction with 'top-tier' standards, drive progress with 'full-throttle' momentum, and deliver services with 'genuine' measures, doing everything possible to safeguard the project's construction.
Zhang Guosheng welcomed the leaders and guests attending the groundbreaking ceremony and expressed heartfelt thanks to the leaders and comrades at all levels who have long cared for and supported the development of SDIC Group. Jiang Jianqing said that Yancheng is among the first batch of national carbon peaking pilot cities and the only one in Jiangsu Province, as well as a green, low-carbon development demonstration zone that the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and the Provincial Government have prioritized for construction. In response to the call of the Yancheng Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, Wanbang Digital Energy Co., Ltd. (StarCharge) has joined hands with Yancheng SDIC Group to build a new-type chemical energy storage demonstration station in Bufeng Town, Yancheng Economic Development Zone. Wanbang Digital Energy Co., Ltd. (StarCharge) will, with first-class energy products and technologies, organize and coordinate the design, construction, installation and commissioning parties, act proactively and innovate for results, complete the commissioning targets with high quality, and make new contributions to the development of Yancheng's new energy industry!
Once the project is put into operation, it is expected todeliver approximately 112 million kWh of electricity to the grid each year, enough to meet one month of electricity demand for 600,000 households, and to absorb 132 million kWh of regional wind, solar and off-peak electricity annually. This corresponds to a coal reduction of 40,000 tonnes, cutting carbon dioxide emissions by 100,000 tonnes, sulfur dioxide by about 14 tonnes, and dust by about 4 tonnes.
The project delivers strong economic, social and environmental benefits. It can shave regional peak loads, effectively improve the stability and reliability of new energy generation, and offers outstanding advantages in grid frequency regulation, peak shaving, output balancing and more.
